Temporary power distribution units positioned pitchside at a packed football stadium, supplying reliable electrical power for lighting, broadcasting and live event infrastructure.

We supplied power distribution for FIFA World Cup 2026 — here’s how it came together

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that this has definitely been a World Cup to remember. From dramatic finishes and nail-biting moments to games that have unfolded in ways nobody saw coming, it’s been a tournament that has captured everyone’s attention.

Everywhere you look, people are talking about the latest results, standout performances and the moments that have had fans on the edge of their seats. And with the semi-final against Argentina ahead, it’s safe to say there’s plenty of excitement (and nervousness) around the workshop, with everyone eagerly awaiting kick-off and watching with bated breath to see if England can take another step towards the final.

That said, there’s another reason we’ve enjoyed this World Cup so much, and that’s because we got to play our own small part in it. We’re no Bellingham or Kane, but it’s still been great to be involved in something that’s capturing the attention of billions of football fans worldwide.

Here’s everything you need to know about how our power distro boxes have travelled across the Atlantic to support the biggest sporting event in the world.

Playing our part with power distribution units

While the focus is rightly on the games, an incredible amount of work is happening behind the scenes to make a tournament of this size possible. From stadiums and hospitality areas to fan zones and match experience parks, thousands of people and businesses are working together to help create the experience being enjoyed by football fans across the globe.

This is where we’ve been able to play our part. We’ve worked on some incredible sporting events over the years, including the Olympics, Formula One and major tennis tournaments, to name a few, so supporting large-scale events is something we’re familiar with.

That said, this project has felt a little different. Football is something we follow closely at Rubber Box, so knowing that equipment built by our team in Lancashire is part of a tournament we’ve all been looking forward to since the last Euro tournament in 2024 has made it especially exciting.

From the North West to North America, Canada and Mexico

This order has travelled from our workshop in Nelson across the Atlantic to support the tournament throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico, helping bridge the gap between European and American power systems. These power distro units allow equipment from both sides of the Atlantic to work together across hospitality areas, fan zones and match experience parks, providing reliable power wherever it’s needed throughout the tournament.

One of our favourite locations where our equipment has played its part is MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which hosted England’s final group game against Panama and will go on to host the tournament final this Sunday.

A team effort from start to finish

Projects of this scale are always a team effort, and we’ve been delighted to work alongside our friends at F. Walther Electric Corp US, WALTHER-WERKE GmbH and Doepke UK Ltd to help bring everything together. By combining expertise, we’ve delivered a solution designed to meet the demands of an event watched by millions worldwide.

It was all hands on deck in our workshop to get everything built, tested and ready in time. Our team even stayed late to make sure every unit was prepared and delivered to the expected standard, because when equipment is used in environments like this, reliability is everything.

There is always a sense of satisfaction when a finished order is shipped off. After the planning, design, manufacturing and testing process is complete, watching something created by our team head off to its final destination never gets old.

Powering the moments fans remember

For us, this project has been a great reminder of why we love what we do. Reliable equipment and safe power are the foundations that help make these special events possible.

The project was a true team effort, and while late finishes aren’t always part of the plan, some are more than worth it. It’s been fantastic to work alongside other teams, combining our expertise and experience to deliver a solution that could meet the demands of an event of this scale.

All in all, it’s been a brilliant job for everyone involved. And now that we’ve done our bit behind the scenes, all that’s left to do is join millions of fans around the world in cheering England on and hoping they can go all the way!

It’s been a privilege to play our part in making this tournament happen behind the scenes. Just as major sporting events rely on reliable power to keep everything running smoothly, so do events of all sizes.

If you’re planning your next event and need advice on finding the right power distribution solution, our team at Rubber Box is always happy to help. From festivals and sporting events to temporary installations, we can provide reliable power solutions from our extensive range of off-the-shelf units, as well as create bespoke solutions for more specific requirements.
