Manage power across multiple zones at live events with power distro units
Live events rely on structured, reliable power distribution to operate safely and without interruption. From main stages and front-of-house positions to backstage areas and temporary installations, every zone needs a consistent, protected supply. At Rubber Box, we’ve spent over 30 years designing and manufacturing power distribution units that support live productions across music, sport, corporate events and touring environments, both here in the UK and worldwide.
We’ve seen firsthand how critical dependable power is once a show goes live. Our products are used in music venues, theatres and festivals across the globe. Whether we’re supplying a compact indoor venue or a multi-stage outdoor festival, our distribution systems support lighting, audio, video and site infrastructure throughout the build, performance and breakdown.
Power distribution for multi-zone event environments
In our experience, live events rarely operate from a single centralised setup. Even relatively compact productions require power to be routed safely and logically across multiple areas. On larger sites, that complexity increases quickly. Power needs to be distributed across clearly defined zones, each with its own load demands, equipment sensitivity and technical priorities. That might include:
- Main stage lighting and control
- Audio systems and monitor world
- LED screens and video processing
- Front of house positions
- Backstage technical areas
- Hospitality and catering facilities
- Production offices and site cabins
Managing these areas requires structured distribution, appropriate circuit protection and logical segmentation so each zone can operate independently while remaining part of a coordinated system. When we design our power distro units, that’s exactly what we’re thinking about. We build systems that allow technical teams to allocate power efficiently across multiple areas, helping maintain stability from initial build through to show time and final load out.
Designed for demanding event conditions
Anyone who works in live events knows the environment is rarely straightforward. One week, the box is in an arena; the next, it’s in a field in unpredictable weather; and after that, it’s back in trucks heading to the next city.
We design our power distribution units around that reality. Our enclosures are precision moulded from solid rubber rather than thin plastic or lightweight metal. That material choice means they absorb knocks, resist cracking and stand up to repeated load-ins and load-outs without becoming a weak point in the system.
Inside, we use properly specified commercial-grade components from recognised manufacturers. Integrated overload and earth-leakage protection is standard, and in many units, each outgoing circuit is protected individually. If one run develops a fault, it can be isolated without affecting the rest, which matters during live production.
All outputs are logically laid out, protection devices are accessible, and fault finding is straightforward when time is tight. It’s this combination of robust materials, quality components and practical design that allows our distribution systems to perform consistently across festivals, arena tours, corporate productions and broadcast-linked live events.
Scalable solutions for productions of every size
No two live events have exactly the same power requirements. Some need compact distribution for smaller zones, while others require higher capacity systems capable of feeding multiple three-phase circuits across a large site. It all depends on what you’re putting on and how big the show is.
We supply a comprehensive range of power distribution units to accommodate that variation, including 16A and 32A units for breakout zones, control positions, and support areas, as well as 63A and higher-capacity systems for main stage and higher-draw technical infrastructure.
We can also build completely bespoke distribution units designed around specific connector types, output configurations, and layout requirements, so you can guarantee that your power distribution unit is tailored to the exact requirements of your event or venue and the environment in which it will be working.
Every unit is designed and built by our experienced team here in the UK, with live events of every shape and size in mind. We’ve powered over 2,500 festivals, giving us a very in-depth understanding of how these systems are deployed on site. So our focus is always on practical configuration, reliability, and long-term performance.
At Rubber Box, we stay focused on designing and manufacturing power distribution solutions that meet the operational demands of live events. Whether you need an off the shelf unit or a bespoke power distribution solution tailored to your layout, we’re here to support your next production with dependable power infrastructure you can rely on.
We’re proud to be recognised as the UK’s leading supplier of power distribution boxes, and that position comes from more than 30 years of consistent work in the industry. We’re rated Excellent by our customers and trusted by some of the largest venues and events worldwide.
Over the decades, we’ve built strong relationships with production teams who consistently come back to us because they know our equipment performs exactly as expected. If you have any questions about our products, you can give our team a call on 01282 677 910, and we’ll be happy to help!
